Children talk about domestic violence and abuse
In this video, you’ll hear from 12 children and young people from around Ireland who have experienced domestic violence and abuse, giving a voice to their experiences and empowering them to improve responses to children living in these situations in the longer term.
The video was made by Barnardo’s with domestic abuse services from around Ireland in a national children’s participation project. “The aim was to hear what children and young people are saying about their experiences of domestic violence and abuse. This project believes that all children and young people with experience of domestic violence and abuse have a loud and powerful voice. We believe that children are the experts in their own lives and can speak for themselves. We want children and young people feel heard, have had their experiences validated and their expertise recognised. “
Barnardo’s hopes to expand this project to capture the voices of many more children around Ireland who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and who deserve to be heard.
